A nurse who contracted Ebola after caring for Thomas Dunn, the first Ebola victim in the U.S was declared Ebola-free and she got right into the open arms of President Obama, who requested to meet and hug her in a move that would dissuade people from stigmatizing her.

White House spokesman Josh Earnest called the meeting with Obama “an opportunity for the president to thank her for her service.”

Nollywood actress turned nurse, Regina Askia has taken a brave decision to work at a US Ebola Center.

She announced this on facebook

My job was looking for Nurses to volunteer for the Ebola center which was moved from our building to another location. My male colleagues said they would do it for 200 dollars per hour, ….C’mon Regina , gotta get on the team…they said. I was not smiling (I am captain of my 3 kid team). Not one female nurse volunteered (lol). We ALL had to demonstrate proper use of PPE equipment and be proficient with the Ebola protocol. I was full of thoughts as I watched the display, hoods, masks, gowns, boots….almost like a nightmare. Home news had it that Nigerians washed their hands, didn’t hug as much, monitored their temps and on the first signs of malaise drank the ORT (oral rehydration therapy) until symptoms passed. Were we once again trying to kill mosquitoes with bazookas? I wasn’t going to wait to find out. In a daze I got with the program to become “an Ebola ready Nurse”. More power to all the nurses on the grind – Goodluck!!

D’banj has plans to make a 10th anniversary album, and revealed his former Mo-Hits partner would be on it.

“Ten years ago, October 4, 2004 to be precise, I got on stage to perform for the first time and now ten years later D’banj has become a brand.

Don Jazzy worked with me from the beginning and I can tell you for sure that my 10th anniversary album will drop soon and there are many producers on it, including Don Jazzy,” D’banj said in a telephone interview with Beat FM.

D’banj partners with Apple for musical movie
Kokomaster, D’banj has confirmed that he indeed has a deal with Apple which involves making a musical movie about his 10-year journey as a musician.

In a telephone interview with Beat FM presenters, Olisa Adinua and Maria, D’banj who called in from Los Angeles said: ‘Most people have the wrong impression that Dr Dre was the one that signed me, but the contract I have says ‘APPLE’ and to take it further, my management, DKM Media in conjunction with Apple is working on a musical movie. I’m going to act in the movie and play the role of D’banj.’

Chris Brown has been one of the biggest singers in the music business since he signed his record deal ten years ago in 2004 at just 15-years-old, so you may expect he would have some pretty good advice for any would-be artists out there wanting to achieve his level of success. But his wise words might come as a surprise for some after he told fans “don’t take my advice.”

Speaking in a clip from his new documentary The Rise And Rise Of Chris Brown he admits to having made his mistakes in the past and eats a big slice of humble pie, proving that maybe he has finally learnt his lesson from it all. In fact Chris, 25, appears to be extremely remorseful for his troubled past.

When asked what his tips for up and coming talent are the chart-topper gives the honest answer: “I’d say, ‘Well, don’t take my advice because I’m gonna show you the wrong way to do it.’”

In the clip from the show – obtained by HollywoodLife – Chris also talks about the importance of surrounding yourself with people who you can trust and who won’t just want you for your fame and will want to help you grow as an artist.

He said: “Just keep your circle really tight, make you’ve got a lot of loyalty around you. Real people who want to see you be the best that you can be, not just what you can bring them, you know be it fame or wealth or whatever it is. A good team – people who are smart and who think about your best interests.”

Chris also played on the importance of not becoming too involved in your own ego because it will put people off listening to and buying your music regardless of how talented you are. He added: “At the same time don’t let the fame get in the way of your talent, because sometimes you can be super talented, but then arrogance plays a part in it, you start getting cocky and then that overshadows the talent. So then it’s like ‘I don’t really like that person because of how they act.’”

And he admitted that the most important things you can do if you are faced with the temptations of fame are to remain true to yourself and focus on the music. He said: “Being humble is the key, be yourself, stay true to yourself and your music. That’s all you need to do.”

Sounds like great advice from what could well be a changed man.

The Nigerian government has made an announcement that from now on, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members will be receiving N500 as daily feeding allowance.

Director General of the NYSC, Johnson Bamidele Olawumi , made this announcement at a House of Representatives Committee hearing on the N4,000 online registration fee mandated for corps members , Leadership reports.

A civil society group launched a ‘Say No Campaign’ to protest the registration fee. It was during the hearing that Olawumi made the announcement about the new feeding allowance.

Even if you are a self-confident and independent Nigerian lady, don’t forget about learning to cook and doing home chores. Gender equality is a good thing, but it is not a reason to turn your house into a mess. And don’t forget that Nigerian men love good cooking!

3. Less makeup

Too much makeup is not doing good for you. The truth is that lots of men are indifferent to makeup. Many of them even don’t like it at all. So it is better to forget about high school and to look more natural.

4. Don’t give your number to any guy you can

Any man would disgrace if your phone rings often and you will be laughing and chatting with other guys. You may not be a playgirl, but a guy can think that you are.

5. Wrong presentation

Some Nigerian girls try to dress attractive, but it turns out that they are ridiculous. Your dressing style determines kinds of men who are attracted to you. Remember, not all clothes that look sexy are good for a seriously searching for a soul mate single lady.

6. Bad manners

When you want to look “attractive” or “hot” for a man, don’t think it can turn into something serious. Your wisdom, inner beauty and good manners are factors which make man stay with your, keep faithful and have long-term relations. If you rely only on your good appearance, don’t be surprised if a guy runs away after accomplishing his “evil” mission.

7. Too much advice from friends and relatives

Of course, family values a lot in Nigeria, but remember that it is you who are going to live with this person, NOT your friend or relative. Let them have their own life and you will enjoy yours!

Ghanian singer, Fuse ODG has beat Nigerian superstars Davido, Tiwa Savage and Wizkid to win the Best Africa Act at the 2014 Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards 2014.

The award ceremony which held on Wednesday held at London’s SSE Arena Wembley. The UK based Ghanaian superstar was not present at the event but a rep picked up his award for him. Fuse ODG was held up in traffic, luckily his manager was here to receive the award for Best African Act at the MOBO Awards 2014.

Founded in 1996, MOBO has been key to elevating black music and culture to mainstream popular status in the UK.

Tyga elaborates on his frustration with Young Money and says he doesn’t have good relationships with Drake and Nicki Minaj.

Since Tyga went on a tweeting spree about his dissatisfaction with Young Money a few weeks ago, we haven’t heard any updates about his label (or for that matter, album) status, but a new interview with VIBE may offer some clues. Appearing on the cover of the publications first digital-only issue, Tyga gives a more in-depth look at his struggle inside Young Money.

The interview begins addressing the topic when Tyga’s asked if Young Money is part of the creative process on The Gold Album, to which he responds:

“Nah. I tend to distance myself from them.”

He adds, “I’m tryna’ go independent. I don’t really get along with Drake. I don’t really get along with Nicki,” and then elaborates:

“I don’t like Drake as a person. He’s just fake to me. I like his music; you know what I’m saying? I think his music is good, but we’re all different people. We were forced together and it was kinda’ like we were forcing relationships together. It is what it is. But I been friends with Chris [Brown] for like six years. That’s my real genuine friend. We hang out all the time. He lives up the street from me, so we don’t just do music we hang. I think being signed to Young Money, everybody felt like they had to force a relationship ‘cause Wayne put us together. At the end of the day the reason why I signed to Young Money is because of Wayne. Not because of Drake, not because of Nicki. It was because of Wayne and my relationship with him. I try to be cool with everybody, but sometimes, everybody just has different personalities, motives, and different characters. When you realize that, you realize that’s not a place where you want to continue to grow.”

According to People Magazine, Jay Z & Beyonce have renewed their wedding vows recently while overseas.

Remember that rumor over the Summer that Jay Z & Beyonce were heading for divorce? Well just as we thought, it turns out not be true as the Carter’s are indeed “drunk in love”. According to People Magazine, music’s most powerful couple have recently renewed their wedding vows while overseas.

A source told People that the couple’s relationship did face “major problems”, but they worked it out and renewed their vows. According to that souce, Jay & Bey decided to “work it out for [the sake of] their reputations and for [their 2-year-old daughter] Blue Ivy”.

The two were recently spotted house hunting in Paris over the past month or so. They’ve also toured a villa near the Seine, a home in a gated community known as “Millionaire’s Row,” and a townhouse next to the Elysee Palace (see photos in gallery).

To coincide with all this, the couple is reportedly in the studio overseas working on a joint album that’s rumored to be released later this year or in early 2015. Hopefully all this is true in the name of hip-hop.

I did not want to say anything about all the noise and cry from Ronke Odusanya. I’ll be darn if I also kept quiet about the accusations. This all started in 2008 as stated by Ronke.
