Oh wow! This is the young man who designed the viral ‘Alobam’ clothing gear…

Ozah Oghenemairo popularly known as Myro is one bundle of talent. Having graduated with a decent 4.47 GPA from Caleb University, Lagos where he studied architecture, the young act is today making a name for himself in the entertainment industry.

Born in Ajegunle but spending most of his growing up years in Surulere, Lagos, Myro’s first influences in music were Daddy Showkey and Daddy Fresh – two figures who popularised Ajegunle’s brand of music – galala – a fusion of reggae and African rhythms. Shabba Ranks, a Jamaican act with international following in the early 1990s, also helped shape his style of music. But it was not until 2008 that he started music professionally when he featured in Terry tha Rapman’s mixtape hosted by DJ Jimmy Jatt. He also had collaboration with Modenine in a track titled Parole. During this period, Myro was commissioned on many graffiti art projects including the British Council’s WAPI, The Headies (formerly, Hip-Hop World Awards), red carpet art and numerous music video sets including Jimmy Jatt’s StyleeOne of Myro’s latest projects is the production of the trendy Alobam T-shirt merchandise for rapper Phyno.

He teamed up with On-Air-Personality, Nedu and Phyno, to produce the Alobam gear which has become an instant fashion hit. The success gives the artiste a sense of fulfillment.“I am happy that the design spread real quick and far. I walk down the street and I see it everywhere. It seems bigger than me, that is the joy of every designer. It means you created a wonderful product.

“I met Nedu after he purchased one of my early designs online. He loved my work, called for a meeting and since then it has been a wonderful experience working with him. I met Phyno some years back, invited him to one of my exhibition parties where he performed and we struck a great harmony. Phyno loved the concept of the Alobam T-Shirts from the first day it was introduced, he also contributed, adding his own flair to the entire concept,’’ he said.

Myro went on to tour the country with Phyno and at every stage, in every city they went, the Alobam T-shirt proved to be a very popular gear as fans turned out en-masse to identify with it.Revealing his targets, Myro projects that in the not too distant future he would be able to boast of being an entertainment mogul like America’s P-Diddy whose Sean John gear continues to be popular around the world.

“I also want to combine merchandising and music to international standards just as P.Diddy is doing with his brand or Chris Brown with Mechanical Dummy or Pharell Williams with his Billionaire Boys Club. I want to be that Nigerian artiste that has that blend.

“The modern day youngster is a multi-tasking individual. With the support of technology, we can achieve more. My music would contribute to the growth of my clothing business and vice-versa. I wouldn’t be the first to do that combination; so it is a comfortable spot with the right plans to drive it,’’ he said.
